Dear RIWGA Members,
Welcome to the 2009 golf season! Your committees have been busy planning an exciting schedule for this year. I think you will be pleased with the result of their hard work.
There will be some changes this year that will necessitate careful reading of your member handbook. Please take time to pay special attention to the new “T Score” posting for some tournaments. This is explained on page 9. There are some new tournaments this year that will, hopefully, add interest to the schedule and additional participation. The Tournament Committee has included several dual class dates. A change to the handicap index closing date is explained on page 9 along with class placement information. Again, please read this section carefully. In addition to these changes will be the inclusion of Junior Girls in the RIWGA Championship. Girls who meet the qualifications listed in the Member Handbook will be welcome to participate. Tournament costs will include cart fees for most dates. Some dates will include the cost of lunch. Pro shop chits to the host club will be awarded for major tournaments. As in the past, $10 of your membership fee is a tax deductible donation to the RIWGA Junior Scholarship Fund.
I am excited to begin this season with all of you and want you to know I am always available to help where needed. We will begin an aggressive recruiting campaign and will welcome your assistance on helping us win back former members and recruit new ones. Continue to access the RIWGA website at riwga.org throughout the season for additional tournament information. This is done for your convenience. Please remember your Class
Coordinators and Club Reps are in place to assist you. Treat them with the respect you would expect.
Until the season begins, stay warm, stay in shape, and stay in touch!
Warm Regards,
Jan Freeborn

Dear RIWGA Members, It is with great pride and excitement that I extend the congratulations of the entire Rhode Island Women’s Golf Association to ANNA GRZEBIEN on her outstanding accomplishment in securing her player card for the 2009 LPGA season. She is a credit to the game and a credit to our organization as a past member and strong supporter of RIWGA. Please join me in offering our most heartfelt congratulations and best wishes in the coming year.
Warm Regards,

Dear RIWGA Members,
It is with great pride and excitement that I begin my service to the RIWGA as your President. I am proud to be part of such an enthusiastic Board and can assure you that our commitment to the success of RIWGA is sincere. If you have not volunteered for a committee, please consider adding your name to one of the many opportunities in this Association. To be successful, it’s all hands on deck! Additionally, please make a list of the people you did not play golf with this year or sit next to at an event. Where were they? It is time for us to aggressively recruit members for the coming year. We need to know why they left us and how we can get them back. Let’s all be part of the solution to the longevity of the RIWGA. Enjoy your winter and let’s hope it’s a short one weather-wise! Sincerely, Jan Freeborn
RIWGA President
