The Rhode Island Women’s Golf Association awarded in 2007 $5300 in scholarships to young women who have participated in the Junior Program and have distinguished themselves in all of their golf endeavors.
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, scholarship, participation in the RIWGA Junior Golf Program community service and recommendations.
The RIWGA Junior Scholarship Fund has made annual scholarship awards since 1981. The fund is supported by a contribution from each RIWGA member and contributions made by golf associations, memorials, individuals and the CVS Classic Golf Tournament.
The RIWGA Junior Scholarship was established to provide undergraduate scholarship to aid to female junior golfers at Rhode Island at the college of their choice. Such grants are not to exceed four years. Those girls finishing high school and applying for first time should send in an application and parent's 1040 tax form. Those reapplying for continued aid must send in previous year's transcript, parent's 1040 tax form and a note stating their desire for reapplication.
Criteria for awarding for scholarship: Scholarship -- a "C" average or better, Citizenship and recommendations, Participation in the RIWGA program, Financial need
It is hoped that after receiving this scholarship and, when a girl becomes self supporting, she will donate to the Scholarship Fund.
