RIWGA SCHOLARSHIPS

In 2011 The Rhode Island Women’s Golf Association awarded $11,650.00 in scholarship aid to young women who have participated in the Junior Program or have played for their school teams and have distinguished themselves in all of their endeavors including golf, academics and community involvement.

The scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, academics, community service, recommendations as well as participation in golf.

The Fund has made annual awards since 1981. The Fund is supported by contributions from each RIWGA member as well as contributions from individuals and golf associations, from memorials and from the CVS Caremark Classic Golf Tournament.

The Scholarship was established to provide undergraduate scholarship aid to female junior golfers in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts at the college of their choice. The awards are available for 4 years providing the student maintains a C average.

Any girl in her senior high school year who is eligible should complete an application (found on the RIWGA website) and mail it to Pat Davitt, 17 Oak Manor Drive, Barrington, RI 02806 along with the recommendations and financial information. Girls applying for continuing aid must send their transcript each year to Pat Davitt at the above address. 2012 applications may be obtained by clicking here.

It is hoped that when recipients finish college and are self-supporting they will donate to the Scholarship Fund. Anyone who is interested in making a donation may send it to Pat Davitt at the above address.
